CSA Frequently Asked Questions

What is a CSA

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and links farmers to consumers in their region in a unique way. CSA members typically buy "shares" in the farm which sign them up for local delivery of the commodities the farm has to offer. With J & J Grassfed Beef we currently are only offering beef but this could be expanded in the future.

How often will my delivery come?

Delivery frequency is based on the size of the CSA in your area. Groups with less than 15 people will receive deliveries every other month. Groups with more than 15 people will receive deliveries every month. See the current CSA locations for frequency and remember to order your beef accordingly.

How will I be billed or charged?

Since we do not know the exact cost of every order we must fill your pack and then total the amount. Once we do this your credit card will be charges or you will be billed payable by check or cash. Credit card transaction will occur around the 15th of each month and invoices will be mailed around the 10th to be paid upon receipt. You can also pay when your order is delivered. Note: if you have not paid for your previous months balance we will not deliver your next months order.

Can I order additional cuts in my monthly bag?

Yes, select any additional cuts you would like for that month or monthly by filling out the "additional order form" online or if you need the form send and email to jay@rangelandbeef.com, subject: "additional order form" and we will forward to you. Mark the cuts, how many packs you would like, if this is a one time or monthly addition and send in one week prior to your delivery date. We will be glad to put these in your bag. All additional cuts are priced per lb and subject to availability.

We will send you monthly recipes that will help you use your cuts and our Family and Grill packs come with a discount off the pack and delivery charge.

How long will my meat stay frozen in the cold bags?

Meat is delivered from our frozen trucks in our cold bags and will stay frozen solid for app 2 1/2 hours. We may have a freezer at your host location but we do recommend picking up your beef as soon a possible and placing directly into your freezer.

What is the pack and delivery fee?

To keep our per lb prices down, J & J currently uses a delivery and pack charge for the packaging, host and delivery costs. This fee is $15 per custom order, $10 for Family Pack 1 and Grill Pack, $5 for Family Pack 2 and waived on orders over $110 dollars.
